Mini Description:
An ability that causes confusion in both the user and whomever touches them.
Ability name:
Mercury Poisoning
Pronunciation:
Mur-cure-ee Poy-sun-ing
Moon Forest regional ability #1
Special name:
Poison of the Mind
Classification:
Status Effect Ability
Ability Effect:
When a pokemon has Mercury Poisoning, they are easily confused and become delirious often. If they are in battle and attacked physically, the mercury seeps into their brain and causes dementia and mania. As for whomever hit them, they too are infected with a small portion of the poison and become confused as well. These states of lucid delirium last a short while, but will continue if the attacks continue. Therefore, special attacks are the strategic way for battling a pokemon with Mercury Poisoning.
History/Background:
Mercury Poisoning first began showing up when Hatteias began venturing out into the wild. It is theorized that their special tea contains trace amounts of mercury that have seeped into their brain after so many years of drinking it. When these mischievous pokemon began mixing their tea in the stream water, other pokemon began becoming infected. It is not fatal and only causes euphoria and confusion, but many trainers see it as a useful defense in battle. Although it is rare now since Pokemon Centers have begun curing poisoned pokemon in the wild in case it ever become dangerous or transfers to humans.
