Egg sprite:
Appearance of egg before hatching:
A Hatta’s egg appears to be of regular size and shape as a regular pokemon egg with spots. The color of the shell and spots dictates the gender of the Hatta. A darker shell with purple spots means the hatchling will be male. A lighter shell with pink spots mean the baby will be female. The only stand out feature of these eggs is the hat atop it, which is a smaller version of one the babies will wear when they are born. These hats grow with the egg, and when it hatches, the newborn Hatta will wear them as they grow older.
Physical Appearance:
Hattas are humanistic bipeds that look less like pokemon and more like a human being. Their lower halves are larger in size than the upper half, on account of they must have strong legs to support the added weight upon their head. Most of their muscle is in their legs, especially the calves due to their habit of walking on the tips of their feet. Their arms, in comparison, are thin while their hands are fairly large and consist of three rounded fingers. These mitts are barely used to lift anything, since Hattas have a habit of using there psychic abilities to do all the lifting for them.
The torso is narrow and has barely any fat at all, often showing the ribs but not in a ghastly manor. Their feet are long much like a rabbit or kangaroos, with two toes that are so close together they almost blend in to create a solid foot. This is due to the ‘tiptoe’ walk that Hattas commonly use to make themselves appear taller. As for their heads, not much is ever seen of it as it is masked by their hat which gets pulled down over their eyes when they hatch. Every Hatta, whether male or female, has a hat given to them from their parents that is made of unknown material.
What can be seen of the head shows that it is round and probably hairless like the rest of the body. Their mouths can hardly be seen, since they rarely speak and have a tendency to clench their jaw unless when sipping tea. Hattas have smooth, gray skin everywhere except on their stomach, which is black with ridge like stripes. Females tend to be lighter than males, often looking white in tone. One feature of Hattas that makes them seem more human than pokemon is their clothes.
A Hatta’s clothes consist of a long trench coat length jacket made of a velvet texture material. The jacket is ridged in a checkerboard pattern and has a collar that harbors a white bowtie. Male Hattas have purple coats while females have pink. Both genders share the same trademark hat that their species is known for. It is an oversized, black top hat that covers most of their head and bears a small car with the same fraction of “10/6”. This hat is with them when they hatch, starting small and growing with them much like their clothes. It is unknown what material these clothes are made of, though they must be organic since they grow with their wearer. It is speculated that the clothes are much like hair is to a mammal, but that has yet to be proven.
Another interesting aspect of a Hatta’s appearance is the large colorful teapot that levitates around them. The kettles are always made of a porcelain material and are decorated to their owners liking. Most bear mysterious pictures of the pokemon, Unknown, around the circumference which spell our the name of that particular Hatta or some other phrase significant to them. These vessels carry around a Hatta’s tea that is a secret recipe brewed by them.
Personality:
A regular Hatta is extremely hubristic and arrogant, looking down on other pokemon and humans equally. They consider themselves of superior intelligence and unmatchable beauty, and no one can convince them otherwise. Rarely will they submit themselves to battling with wild pokemon or trainers, since it would be a waste of their talents. Crafty trainers have come to use their pompous attitude against them. By taunting and teasing a Hatta, they are forced to defend their over-inflated egos and are either bested and captured or successfully prove their might.
If you plan on catching a Hatta, it is suggested that you imply something of compensation with the size of their hair. This will set off another common personality trait; their short temper. However, when caught or defeated by a trainer or pokemon, there is a chance that the Hatta will become slightly humble enough to respect their victor. That is why a Hatta, if caught and trained right, can become a trainer’s most valued partner. This is a rare occasion, seeing as their quiet defiance remains a hard obstacle to overcome.
A great trait, of female Hattas in particular, is their love and devotion to males or their trainer of either gender. Female Hattas are the nurturing gender of the species, as they have to care for their young until they are strong enough to carry their enormous crowns and can levitate their kettle. This caring nature is only specific to older Hattas, as younger females have yet to care for their own brood and therefore share a snobbish attitude with their male counterparts. That is why older females are sought after by trainers and breeders, as they are easier to work with. They are, however, harder to capture and study since their mates tend to be possessive and selfish, as their gender tends to be.
Other than their pride, Hattas are also known for their slightly demented and mischievous ways. Small groups of adolescent Hattas are the most common ailment in small towns and villages. They find amusement at the easily confused minds of humans and love to flaunt their psychic abilities. Their most common prank is replacing the regular stock of tea houses with their own, which causes nausea and dementia. Humans are not solely targeted, pokemon as well are often afflicted with mysterious delirium from contaminated streams or berries.
The only thing that Hattas love more than themselves and their pranks, is tea. They cherish their oversized kettles like children and prefer drinking their own brew. This special brewed tea causes euphoria and confusion that Hattas are addicted to. As disturbing as it sounds, a Hatta would most likely save their tea pot over themselves. If offered another beverage, they will spit at you and fill your mind with chatter until you bring them tea. It is this obsession with chaos and their chauvinistic attitude that makes them truly ‘mad’.
History/Background:
Hattas are estimated to be some of the first pokemon in existence, having been hiding away in closed chambers of dark caves. They survived off of their endless supply of tea, and evolved to be a independent species of intelligent beings. Only recently have they been able to come out of their caverns to develop in new forested environments. They seem to have no interest in humans or other pokemon around them, and tend to seclude themselves from large cities. However, researchers and watchers were able to gather information from a few Hattas that shared some of their informational wealth with ‘inferior beings.’
According to what we have gathered, Hattas are descendents of Mew who collectively decided they were too advanced for the old world. So they hid away in caverns to wait for a new generation that would be better suited for their talents. But a cataclysmic earthquake trapped them in the mountains, and being physically weak, they could not get out. After spending so much time trapped and alone, Hattas began going insane and began brewing a mysterious tea that induced delirium to pass the time. When explorers started digging deeper into the mountains, they accidentally opened these lost passage ways and freed the Hattas from their imprisonment.
It was too late for some Hattas, who had become too demented on their tea to leave these hovels. But a fairly sane portion of the population moved out into the world which was still not to their liking. Still, they remain only to brag and flaunt themselves about as superior beings from ancient times. Some have even been captured by skilled trainers, who use their impressive psychic abilities to their advantage.

Other:
Hattas can communicate telepathically, which is the real reason they remain quiet. It’s not just because they believe others are too inferior to waste their breath on.
If you are deemed worthy, you may here their huffy, monotone voice, but that is a rare occasion.
