Olivia yawned, stretching her arms out as she awoke from her slumber. She groggily sat up, her dark chocolate hair, so short it hardly brushed her neck, stuck up at random angles. Nearly falling out of her queen sized bed, she crawled around the floor, an annoyed pout forming on her youthful face. Of course mom has to put me in the most expensive hotel she could find. In the biggest, most pricey room. AND with the strictest Pokemon rules EVER. As she was the only one using the room, it became a chore just finding her backpack, let alone her shoes. It didn’t help that she decided to throw her possessions around with reckless abandon upon entering the night before.
After a few minutes with no luck, she opened the curtains and peered out the window. To the west was a sparkling blue ocean, a faint sound of ship’s horn blowing in the distance. To the east was the airport, shiny airplanes taking off and landing, the jets’ roaring gently shaking the glass window. At last she opened it, gulping in the faint scent to gasoline and natural country air. She looked down to see the hotel’s parking lot, bustling with people and cars. And ahead of that, to the north was an evergreen forest; the place where her journey would truly begin.
She wore a grin greater than the Cheshire Cat’s himself. Finally, a Pokemon journey. Something many trainers did; and soon she would too. A road awaited full of fun and excitement as well as hardship and sadness. She couldn’t stifle a giggle. I wonder what Pokemon I’ll get. Despite her dream of being a Gym Leader, she didn’t prefer a single Pokemon type. She gave a half dreamy, half frustrated sigh. I guess I’ll leave it up to fate.
The girl turned around only to trip over her navy blue and black backpack. She grumbled, pawing through it to make sure the items were intact and present. Thankfully, her candy hoard was fine and her expensive pencils and notebooks were accounted for. Conveniently, her worn, dirt clod covered shoes weren’t too far away from the pack, and she slipped them on.
With her items in tow, Olivia happily strolled to the elevator only a few yards from her room.
