physical appearance
Soren's appearance is what you would call unruly and, maybe, if you were to go so far, unkept. Bronze-coloured hair, which is neither short nor long (its length is to his shoulders), is a huge disarray, stray hairs sticking this way and that. It would be what you would describe as "morning hair," when you sleep in such a position that it makes your hair stand this way and that until it's properly brushed. Bangs are pushed aside, in what one would call a side-sweep--and both eyes are not the same colour as deemed usual in most persons. Instead, being bi-eyed, one optic is a light brown (left) whilst the other is a jadish-green (right). Usually, his expression is rather emotionless, carefully kept blank and indifferent. It's a challenge to wrestle a mere flicker of emotion to cross his features, and when it happens, it's often to just smile lightly or glower at you--almost enough to make ice cream trucks melt and you to wish that you hadn't given him a cause to give you a dagger-like glare.
Not being the fancy type, nor caring about how others think of his attire or appearance, Soren sports a drab, ebony-coloured zip-up shirt. To go with it, he wears an opened, light vest that is a slate-grey, being trimmed with an off-white. For pants, he sticks with the good old-fashioned, washed-out jeans, that of which is comfortable and easy to move about in, since he doesn't like it baggy or tight. So you can say it is betwixt the two. Shoes-wise, they are mere sneakers that are emblemed with a fiery-red, snaking dragon; the soles and laces are a light-grey, the rest being a raven-black.
The only "accessories" that he dons is a plain, feather-light gold chain around his neck in a choker-like fashion, with a studded belt to hold his pants where they are (afterall, his build isn't big and burly, being quite the opposite: thin and slender).
personality
You would think, being the bookish person he is, that Soren would be the stereotypical type that everyone associates with book-lovers: timid, uncoordinated, and definitely not athletic, among other things. Though in his case, he is the complete opposite, being the "alter-ego" of shy, uncoordinated, and athletic. If it weren't for the fact that he's the silent type, who dislikes talking too much and unneedlessly, Soren would jabber away, being the curious one he is who seeks to know everything he possibly can, if he can.
Usually, it is hard to determine what his personality is like, because of his tendency to bottle up emotions and keep them carefully under check--in the process, coming off bland and uninteresting. However, when the time presents himself, you just might catch a glimpse of his personality. In reality--besides being unnervingly quiet in most situations--he's straightforward and impetuous, given the chance. He's likely to act rashly when angered or just downright grumpy, which is his reasoning to keeping his emotions at bay. Frighteningly blunt, he'll tell you if he has a dislike for you for any reason, even giving an explanation. Obviously, Soren's not afraid of a rebuke, or being told to back off or shut his gab, or to even be shot down or yelled at. He, frankly, wouldn't care, and would only find it amusing.
history/background
Soren's parents were never interested in Pokemon, and tended to stray from such a topic. They had attempted, at first, to have him home-schooled, which lasted until he turned nine--not like it would have helped much anyway, as Pokemon are a palpable thing, being here, there, and every where. His cousin, more like a very close friend, had been the one to influence him, introducing him to the fancies of a pokemon trainer, and how it could be; the glories of battling other trainers' Pokemon, the pride of winning the fight, the slight disappointment of losing and then determination to become better, fostering a strong bond with your Pokemon, being the best you could be, and etc. It had been the day he was turning nine, when Nathaniel (the cousin) had started the talk and had drawn Soren into the Pokemon world. Quickly, he became immersed in the thought of being a pokemon trainer, of owning such fantastical creatures who had vivid and varying personalities, with different abilities, talents, and skills, much like any other human being.
Being a "book-worm" since the age of six, he immediately took to the library close by to read up on Pokemon. It was if some angel had flown down from heaven and handed him his decision; he would talk his parents into getting him in a school that taught about Pokemon, and later on, the aspects of training and being a reliable, resourceful, and proper trainer. Thankfully, he was persuasive enough to get his mother and father to withdraw him from their home-schooling and took him to Theolus' Pokemon Elementary, where he learned the basics of Pokemon and more.
That soon led to Mossdeep's Academy, and, even sooner, to the path of a Pokemon trainer.

- he hopes to own a dragon type one day, preferrably a salamence or a flygon
- doesn't care what his starter is, as long as he can cooperate with his newfound friend with ease
