Day Two, Early Morning
What a start! I've already managed to miss recording in my journal on the first day of my adventure. But it was certainly a full day...
I must still have been caught in the daze of everything. So different it feels to be away from home, out here in the endless unknown of the land! Moon Forest is simply beautiful - I have not seen much in my time besides the farm and what I observe now, but I would be willing to guess that Moon Forest would hold no shame when seen next to any other region. My first impression of this place was of an unreal paradise.
It was not a long trek to the lab - I got directions from a nearby town where I had landed, and managed to ride with a local farmer for part of the journey. And the walk, though up a tiring hill, was more than worth it - my knees may have ached at the top, but how I wish I could capture the grandeur of the laboratory in my journal! And almost before I knew what was happening, I found myself looking at Pokémon, preparing to choose my companion for this entire journey.
A lab assistant, Kiara, kindly took me from room to room, showing me all the Pokémon the lab had to offer. At first we saw strange fish Pokémon known as Remoraids, then the plant-like Seedot. Of the two I am sure I would not have minded either, but we had one type of Pokémon left to see. Outside was our next destination.
What awaited us was the majesty of three fiery horse Pokémon, Ponyta. From the moment I saw them I knew I would choose one of them. I imagined myself riding one - once it cared for me enough not to burn me - the two of us running free in this new world. But as fate would have it, something much better was given to me.
Two of the Ponyta were started upon our entrance, but one farther back ignored us, and thus my eyes were drawn to him. And then I noticed its limping leg.
I had come seeking a companion. Companions help each other, they soothe each other, they connect with each other. My resolve was made up at that moment, I would take that Ponyta as my companion.
We had a strange introduction, the two of us. At first he seemed to accept me, then he almost kicked me! Only Kiara's timely warning saved me from a hard hit. But he seemed almost as if he hadn't known what happened afterwards, and I wasn't about to change my mind.
After that it was a matter of pictures and forms. Already my Ponyta seemed to be warming up to me, and I had come up with a name for him: Token. I don't know what brought that name to mind, but I believe he liked it. And then, already, the two of us were heading off into the region, together.
But I have rambled on far too long, and I am not even halfway through the day! Hopefully today shall be a bit more relaxing then yesterday was, and I shall finish my account of my first days then.
